After two years of online and hybrid music making, the Tuckamore Festival is back in full force – live and bigger than ever with over 40 fabulous concerts and events this season!
Join us August 5-25 for a special extended season, featuring a star-studded pre-festival weekend, ticketed mainstage concerts with highly regarded guest artists, Young Artist recitals, Late Night adventures, our popular artist talks, and a special gala finale event, a three-date Tuckamore Travels tour, and much more.
We’ll kick off the season on Friday, August 5 with a special Celebration Weekend: 3-days of exciting performances, workshops, talks, and more, all free and held at various locations across St. John’s. Headlining are Tuckamore veterans and fan favourites, the Gryphon Trio, joined by the stunning vocal sextet Nordic Voices and mezzo soprano Marion Newman. Opening Night on August 9 will see the long-awaited return solo performance by piano sensation Janina Fialkowska, one of Tuckamore’s most treasured friends. Week two of the festival opens with a belated welcome: that of the spectacular Verona Quartet. Slated as Tuckamore quartet-in-residence for 2020, St. John’s audiences will finally get to hear this extraordinary quartet that has been dazzling audiences around the globe. Also new to the festival roster in 2022 is the sultry voice of CBC’s Tempo, mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah, accompanied by Tuckamore’s great friend, pianist Robert Kortgaard. Of course, our young artists and young composers are always the heart of the festival and we are thrilled to be welcoming twenty-five bright young stars from across the continent and beyond. Audiences can catch their mainstage debut at the Festival Finale on August 21.
